Moody Pumpkins is a fun listening activity created to review the concepts of major and minor. Students will listen to a melodic sound clip and select the pumpkin face that best matches the mood of the music. When asked, younger students will describe music in a major key as “happy” and music in a minor key as “sad” or “scary”. The moody pumpkin faces depict these ideas, making it easier for your little ones to correctly identify the tonality of the music they hear.
The 25 different melodies used in this PowerPoint include a variety of classical music and children’s songs.
